Turkey Tidbits
What size turkey do I need?
We suggest 1 pound to 1 1/2 pounds per person. If you have big eaters or plan on leftovers plan on a larger bird.
Is my fresh turkey frozen?
Our fresh Thanksgiving turkeys have been kept at an icy 29-32 degrees. You may notice an ice shell on the outside of the bird. Water freezes at 32 degrees but meat does not freeze until 28 degrees. Fresh Thanksgiving turkeys are stored at "Deep Chill" temperatures to ensure you get the freshest turkey possible. Rest assured your turkey has not been frozen but ice will form at the low storage temperatures fresh Thanksgiving turkeys are stored at. The ice shell will disappear after a couple hours in your home fridge.
Do whole turkeys contain giblets?
Yes, each turkey should include a bag of giblets which will be found in the neck cavity.
Is the plastic leg-lock oven safe?
Yes it is, but you should remove it if you plan to deep-fry your turkey.
